The research group from the <strong>Medical University of Vienna<\/strong>, based at our facility, investigates whether particle therapy is more effective than conventional X-ray radiotherapy for cancer types associated with poor survival outcomes. Numerous scientific publications, as well as the identification of more effective irradiation techniques, immune-activating drugs that enhance the body&#8217;s response against cancer cells, and novel biomarkers, have now led to this recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, <strong>Luca Lippert, MSc<\/strong> received the <strong>Science Future Award<\/strong> for his master&#8217;s thesis entitled <em>\u201cRadiation-induced immunogenicity in glioblastoma.\u201d<\/em> His research demonstrated for the first time that combining hypofractionated radiotherapy with inhibition of the enzyme <strong>PARP7<\/strong> increases the production of immune-activating signaling molecules and thereby effectively activates immune cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We warmly congratulate both award recipients on their outstanding achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","beitrage_category":[31],"class_list":["post-12193","beitrage","type-beitrage","status-publish","hentry","beitrage_category-medicine"],"acf":[],"uagb_featured_image_src":{"full":false,"thumbnail":false,"medium":false,"medium_large":false,"large":false,"1536x1536":false,"2048x2048":false,"gform-image-choice-sm":false,"gform-image-choice-md":false,"gform-image-choice-lg":false},"uagb_author_info":{"display_name":"julia.handler@medaustron.at","author_link":"https:\/\/www.medaustron.at\/en\/author\/"},"uagb_comment_info":0,"uagb_excerpt":"This year, the group \u201cTranslational Radiobiology\u201d led by Prof. Dr. Dea Slade, PhD, was honored with the Recognition Award.
