A) Austrian patients
If you have Austrian social security, your health insurance will cover the costs for your treatment at MedAustron. The prerequisite is that your health insurance has authorized your treatment. Our team will request this authorization for you. As soon as approval is obtained, we will start with planning your treatment (also refer to Therapy Process). Our patient care team is happy to discuss this procedure with you in detail!
B) Patients from abroad
If you are insured within the EU, you can apply for cost coverage of your treatment at your health insurance provider. As soon as approval is obtained, we will start with planning your treatment (also refer to Therapy Process). If your health insurance provider does not authorize your treatment, we will prepare your individual treatment offer. As soon as you approve this offer, we will start with planning yout treatment. Our patient care team is happy to discuss this procedure with you in detail!
Waiting times
Once you have been accepted as a patient for ion beam therapy at MedAustron, you will be invited to your initial consultation. After this, your treatment has to be carefully planned before the actual irradiation can start. The current waiting time between the initial contact and the start of treatment is usually about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on whether all the examination results necessary for therapy planning are available. Here you can see in detail the process from your request. Until all treatment rooms are ready for full operation, MedAustron only has limited capacities. Assignment of treatment units depends on the degree of medical urgency only.
