With MedAustron in Wiener Neustadt, one of the most advanced Centres for Ion Beam Therapy and Research in Europe is being implemented. The irradiation of the patients will be effected with carbon ions or protons. Currently, the centre is under construction. From 2013 onwards test operating will start. First treatments will be carried out by 2015. From then on, up to 1,400 patients per year will benefit from top international medicine. Thanks to MedAustron, many cancer patients will soon have a chance to profit from effective treatment by gentle ion beam therapy.
